South African born migrants

The total number of South African's living in Australia was 104,128 as recorded in the 2006 census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Between the census and December 2008, about 13,600 more South African's arrived in Australia on a long-term basis.

More than 70 percent of South African's live in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.

The number of South African's entering Australia as immigrants increased to 670 in November 2008 and 800 in December 2008. These were the highest and second highest levels of long-term SA migrants into Australia during the period January 1991 to December 2008.
