The results from the ABS's migrant survey clearly indicated that the reason
why migrants chose Australia ahead of any other destination was because of the better climate followed by a better lifestyle
and because family already lived there. Other reasons why most skilled migrants liked Australia were the people and the
peaceful environment. From the same survey, about 26 percent migrants had no reason to dislike the country, while 8 percent
thought taxes were too high and 7 percent disliked the cost of living. Only 2 percent complained about family and friends not
being close.
